Shooting Sports for Troop Leaders (Free)

  • The vision for Shooting Sports in Trail Life is to embody the concepts of American heritage, individual responsibility, and adventure for members of Trail Life through a safe yet diverse shooting sports program that is tailored to embrace regional differences. This class is a tool to train your leadership to do troop specific orientation classes.
  • This class if for Trail Life and American Heritage Girls troop leadership only.

Trail Life Classes

Navigator & Adventurer Shooting Sports Orientation (Free)

  • This is a requirement in order to complete any Shooting Sports Trail Badge (except Archery).
  • This entirely fulfills the “Orientation Requirement”

AHG Classes

While AHG does not have an outlined orientation for shooting sports; they do require a safety training and orientation by a “trained adult” as noted in the Health & Safety Guide, Section 18 “Activities Guide” > Land Activities > Shooting Sports.

Pioneer & Patriot Shooting Sports Rifle Orientation (Free)

  • This orientation class includes the USCCA Safety Brief
    • Safety Rules
    • Safety Procedures
    • Range Commands
    • Use of firearms
  • The orientation focuses on rifle requirements 2, 3, 5, 6 & 7.

Pioneer & Patriot Shooting Sports Shotgun Orientation (Free)

  • This orientation class includes the USCCA Safety Brief
    • Safety Rules
    • Safety Procedures
    • Range Commands
    • Use of firearms
  • The orientation focuses on shotgun requirements 12, 13, 14, 15 & 17.

Pioneer & Patriot Shooting Sports Range Class

This is not a free class because of range and ammunition costs. The cost may very slightly, but we make every effort to keep the total cost under $30 per student. This class will meet requirements 4 & 8 of the Rifle section or requirements 16 & 19 of the Shotgun section.
